What is it and where did I find it?

erminder is designed to let you quickly and easily record notes about things and recall them whenever and wherever you need. For example, erminder can keep track of where you buy replacement parts. Everyone has scores of replacement parts to buy on a semi-regular basis, and it can be frustrating keeping track of what exactly you need and where to get it. Filters of all kinds are great examples, including furnace filters, range hood filters, humidifier filters, vacuum filters, etc. And speaking of vacuums, do you remember what style vacuum bag you need? Do you get the MicroFiltration, or HEPA filter bag?

Can you pick up dinner on your way home?

Sure, let's do burritos; I'll get everyone's usual order.

Wait, does she get black beans? Which salsa does she get again? I think she gets cheese, but I'm not sure. Why do you have to make these burritos so fast!? Give me a minute while I call home to make sure I'm ordering this right.

Chances are, this has happened to you. If not at your favorite burrito joint, then somewhere when you were just making a quick stop. Be prepared next time by quickly recalling the usual order before you get in line.

How it works

Notes stored in erminder are broken into 2 parts:

  1. The tags that define an item
  2. The notes about that item

For example, if you want to tell erminder what kind of vacuum bags you use, you could use something like this:

You can add multiple notes to items too. If you had already added the note for your vacuum bag but you wanted to also record where you have been able to find replacements, you could create another note with the same set of tags.

After adding these notes, you can pull the information back out by simply remembering the tags you used to create the notes. If you ask erminder for notes with the tags of "vacuum" and "bag" it would respond with "Hoover Type Y Filtrete HEPA" and "Target, aisle 36. Purple and black package."

You're encouraged to use short, simple, and easy to use tags, but erminder won't fight you if you forget the exact combination of tags used for an item. If you had stored a note with the tags: kitchen recessed light, but you later asked for notes using the tags: light kitchen, erminder would do one of two things:

  1. If no other items have both light and kitchen in the list of tags, then your kitchen recessed light notes would be displayed.
  2. If you do have other items that have both light and kitchen in the list of tags, such as kitchen table light, then erminder would tell you how to narrow your request by telling you what tags to add to find your item.

Usage tips

  1. Tags cannot include spaces. Spaces are used to separate tags.
  2. Neither tag lists nor notes can exceed 140 characters. But you can store as many one-line notes as you want.
